WAYSIDERS/DRUMPELLIER lost at home to Irvine on Saturday.

Craig Collin’s battling side went down 8-5 in their latest RBS West Division One match at Langloan. Steven Wilson got the only points of the match for the boys.

The result keeps the Coatbridge outfit second-bottom of the table, eight points ahead of basement dwellers Stewartry.

W/D will attempt to win for the first time since November at East Kilbride this weekend.

Meanwhile, two of the club’s midi section teams were in action on Sunday at Whitecraigs and Strathaven.

The under-15s travelled to Whitecraigs but slumped to a 21-10 loss despite controlling much of the contest.

W/D, who started well and dominated both territory and possession, took an early lead when Garrett Leckie scored a converted try.

But Whitecraigs levelled against the run of play and capitalised with two converted touchdowns when W/D were reduced to 14 men.

Joshua Muirhead was sent packing by the referee who incensed the travelling supporters and finished with a 28-3 penalty count against W/D.

Leckie kicked a penalty to take W/D into double figures. This was a performance that deserved much more.

There was victory for the S1/S2 side, though, who won the try-count 5-3 at Strathaven with Connor McGrady crossing the line twice.

The midis will host their third annual Burns’ Night on Thursday, February 2. Places can be booked via a member of the coaching staff.
