Wednesbury showed today that they can mix it with the leagues big guns by beating Redditch at Willenhall. Wednesbury started the game on the attack and quickly went a goal up thanks to Atish Mistry
supplying Jamie Probert who rounded the keeper to slot home on his reverse stick. A second goal was added when Mark Whitehouses pass set up Subash Mehmi
who deflected his strike past the goal keeper. Redditch came back into the game and scored thanks to a short corner strike following a spell of possession, Wednesbury reacted well to this pressure and added a third goal before the break thanks to Damien Turners strike from the top of the D. The second half saw Redditch have lots of pressure in the Wednesbury half with defenders Whitehouse, Mehmi, Makan and Mitford clearing their lines well. Eventually ten mins from the end Redditch scored again thanks to another short corner. With the away side flooding forward Wednesbury exploited gaps at the back when Amo Zaman run ¾ of the pitch beating five players to slot home the final goal of the game and seal a fantastic 4-2 win for the home side.
