The 2015 season ended last Sunday with defeat in the Glasgow Cup Final against Helensburgh.

A rather bad-tempered affair ended with Helensburgh winning by 3 wickets. It left Weirs trophy-less at the end of a largely disappointing season.

The influx of new players from Active Life didn't give the Saturday teams the hoped-for boost as most of the new players were only available Sunday or midweek. Consequently getting 22 players out on a Saturday remains a problem.

Quality as well as quantity is an issue for both XIs, particularly the 1st XI which struggled mightily with the bat and could only manage 3 wins all season.

The club remains badly in need of 5 or 6 talented and enthusiastic young cricketers as it is still too reliant on the old guard.

It wasn't all doom and gloom. There were some good performances along the way and the Bill Greenwood Sixes were a terrific day this year. But Weirs have a long way to go to get back to being really competitive at a high level.
