Weirs 2nd team overcame Anniesland and some rain interruptions to continue their unbeaten start to the league season.

With usual 2nd team Captain Alistair Gibson sunning himself on his estate in Mallorca, Derek McIntyre took over as skipper. His first act was to win the toss and choose to bat. The Albert Park batsmen made that decision look good as they racked up 245 in 49 overs, despite the innings being interrupted by rain. Sheri Afzal top scored with 70 and there were also useful contributions from Zaheed Hussain, Inderjit Mahal and Senthil Kumar. Anniesland didn't help their own cause by contributing 43 extras, including 28 wides.

Anniesland never really got going in response and were eventually all out for 167. Raja Safder was the bowling star for Albert Park, cleaning up the tail with 5 for 41. The only disappointment for Albert Park was outdoing Anniesland with wides, no fewer than 37 of them. Perhaps the WDCU needs to look at how strictly wides are called outside the top two or three divisions.

All in all though it was another good effort by Albert Park that leaves them sitting pretty at the top of the Division with 4 wins out of 4.

The victory also followed two good midweek wins for Weirs in the McCulloch Cup and the Rowan Cup on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. The first of these, over Clydesdale leaves Weirs well placed in their group with 2 wins out of 3. After beating Drumpellier in the Rowan Cup on Thursday Weirs go on to face Uddingston at home in the Quarter Finals.

The rain was heavier at Albert Park and the first team game between Weirs and Glasgow Accies, although started, was not completed.
