Season Ends

2 months ago By Colin Baxter

The 2017 season ended on Sunday, perhaps predictably, with the final game of the season against Victoria being cancelled because of rain.

Unfortunately this meant that Weirs ended the season trophy-less as a victory against Victoria would have meant Weirs beating Victoria to the Sunday League title.

Although the total of 13 Saturday league victories (5 for the 1st XI and 8 for the 2nd XI) was a huge improvement on recent seasons it was an ultimately disappointing season for Weirs. The 1st XI's form tailed off badly in the second half of the season. And although there were some good victories in the McCulloch and Rowan Cups the club's results in Evening Cricket were poor for the most part.

Here's hoping that there is more to cheer next year as the club heads closer to its centenary year in 2019.

Where next?

2017 Annual General Meeting The 2017 AGM will be held on Thursday 12th October at 7.30pm in the Cricket Pavilion.
Both Saturday Games Rained Off For the second week running, both the 1st and 2nd XI games that were scheduled for Saturday 26th fell victim to the weather.
