Weirs fell to an agonizing 6 run defeat against Glasgow Accies at Albert Park on Saturday.

Accies batted first and made a good start with a half-century opening partnership. Weirs pegged them back though, Irfan Shah, Russell Murray and Siggy Young all taking 2 wickets as Accies slipped to 180 for 9. But a useful last wicket partnership took Accies to a total of 202 all out and that would prove to be crucial in the end.

Weirs' reply got off to a terrible start as they fell to 22 for 4 and it looked like an all-too-common batting collapse was on the cards. But Ghulam Raja (42) and Irfan Shah (67) responded with a century stand for the 5th wicket. Another quick clatter of wickets seemed to spell the end of the Weirs run-chase but that just brought Siggy Young to the wicket. Siggy turned the tide again with a brisk 30 and for a moment it looked like Weirs really might pull off an improbable victory. With 2 balls of the game left Weirs needed 7 to win but Wajid Mohammed was run out off the penultimate ball as he tried to give Siggy the strike and it was all over. In the end it was an agonizing 6 run defeat for Weirs, all out for 196.

At Anniesland a severely under-strength 2nd XI (can we still call them that?) fell to a heavy defeat against the home team. Albert Park were all out for 95 with skipper Alistair Gibson's battling 22 the only notable individual performance. Anniesland chased the small target with ease, for the loss of just 2 wickets.

The Sunday League game against Ayr was cancelled because Ayr's ground was needed for representative match.
