It was three defeats out of three for Weirs at the Weekend.

On Saturday Weirs faced Prestwick at St Ninians in the WDCU Division 1. Prestwick batted first and posted an impressive total of 238 for 9 in their 50 overs. Miller top scored with 66 while Siggy Young took 3 for 56 for Weirs.

Given Weirs' batting struggles this season they were never likely to seriously challenge to make 239 and so it turned out. Weirs were skittled out for just 112. Irfan Shah top scored with 33 and Alan Skelton and Ghulam Shah both made 20s but yet again there was no solidity to the top of the batting order.

The 2nd XI game at Albert Park was a closer affair. St Ninians batted first and made a strong start, skipper Kevin Lawler making 62 as St Ninians moved to 160 for 2. A late clatter of wickets slowed the run rate and meant that Prestwick could only make it to 182 for 9 off their 50 overs. Frank Duffy and Salim Sabir both finished with 3 wickets.

Albert Park made a decent fist of the chase and when Wajid Mohammed (39) and Sabir (42) were going well for the 3rd wicket a surprise victory looked possible. But once Sabir was out on 98 the rest of the batting order went down all too easily. Albert Park were all out for 134, losing by 48 runs.

In the Sunday League game Weirs suffered a narrow 8 run defeat at Kilmarnock, 170 playing 162.
