Newtown 34-7 Welshpool
'Pool unable to make headway against old rivals
Welshpool fell to a third defeat this season against Newtown, and will be left wondering why they seem unable to make any headway against their old rivals whilst they continue to close the gap on other sides in their league.
The first half of the game was all about the home side. After opening the scoring with a penalty, they then crossed for a pair of converted tries, giving them a 17-0 lead at the break.
After a further Newtown score, Welshpool finally got themselves on the board with a try for hooker Ally Evans, which was converted by Dan Earle.
A further Newtown score made the score 29-7 in their favour, and it looked like the game would end in the same manner as the last meeting between the clubs, but the hosts ran in a further try at the death to give them a 34-7 victory.
