On paper this was going to be a close game. Bristol have improved a lot with a good coaching set up and a lot of young players. Wanderers have lost a lot of good 99 players so we could have struggled. Fortunately all our 00’s have stepped up and improved on all fronts.
1st Quarter
After a nervous start we soon got our rhythm. We out played and out swam Bristol and soon got the upper-hand. 7-2
Goals:Sanders(2) Chamberlain(2) Griffiths(c) Griffiths (M) Waite
2nd Quarter
Bristol were starting to get frustrated as we made a lot of interceptions and turned these into goals.11-3
Goals: Sanders Waite (2) Cox
3rd Quarter
With a chance for some rotation players played out of position to give everyone a break. This worked well as we increased our goal tally even more.19-5
Goals: Sanders(2) Chamberlain Griffiths (c) Waite (3) Cox
4th Quarter
With the game won we coasted to the finish line. 21-7
Goals : Pearce Camberlain
You could argue that due to the score Bristol are a weak side, this was not the case. We played very well in all aspects of attack and defense. Bring on the next victims. (Devonport away).
Special mention: All the players who did not score that helped the players who did.
Goal of the day : Lewis’ link up with Ieuan
