Over 70 pupils from Stanborough, Chancellors, Marlborough & Hertswood schools took part in a festival of rugby at Hobbs Way, (home of Welwyn RFC), as an introduction to the game. The event arranged in partnership between the RFU, schools and club was blessed with good weather and enjoyed by all participants, players, teachers and referees. This follows similar initiatives across the County to help raise participation in the sport for pupils at secondary schools. Welwyn RFC are keen to introduce rugby to over 100 school children this season and the festival is part of a range of activities taking place throughout October to meet that aim.
