A Great Day Out
U8s fielded two full strength squads for the day for the first time this season. In the plate, the team - captained once more from the front by Alfi Gib - was narrowly defeated in games against both Barnet & Hertford, but fought back magnificently from 0-3 down to a first team Fullerians side to battle back to 6-6 with a never say die performance.
In the Cup, our team managed to battle out of the group stages into the Semi-Final undefeated with a game of the season performance in the final group match against hosts Tring running out with a comfortable victory in the end. The first time in 3 attempts this year we managed to win against the host side, with some breathtaking tagging and support running to take us into the Semis. Our opponents in the Semis were Hemel and whilst the result didn't go our way we did put enough pressure on the opponents in the first half to throw them off their stride and show plenty of potential for us to keep punching above our weight and compete at that level alongside the other usual 3 semi-finalists (OAs, Hemel & Harpenden).
The squad now cast off the tags that ushers in contact. Given the development made in the last 6 months, and one or two good big uns emerging to join our other higher performers at tag, we can aim our sights even higher next year with confidence.
