Wendens Kings ( Felix V, Flynn, Felix P, Daniel, Harrison, Toby W) put on a superb team performance against strong Shelford and Brentwood opposition - winning all 4 of their games. The lads attacked and defended with great enthusiasm, showing real spirit and determination - taking a few knocks along the way in scoring or preventing tries but getting back up and pressing on. Felix V and Daniel provided the attacking edge with strong, elusive running at pace, Flynn was typically dogged in defence, keeping the opposition honest and chipping in with a few physically worked solo tries. Harrison and Toby W provided good support running and defensive presence. A particular mention should go to Felix P in his first match for the club, who shown good pace, awareness and an eye for the try line - finishing off the day with a mazy run of a well worked team effort to score at the death. It was great to see the boys throwing long accurate passes to the wings - showing great hands and also passing before being tagged. Great performance by all the lads on a chilly Sunday morning. Wendens Knights (Archie, Hugo, Tristan, Henry, Will, Logan) got off to a flying start against Shelford Sharks, a fast aggressive defensive line, straight running and excellent support was too much for the Shelford players to handle. The same spirited play continued against all three other teams resulting in four straight wins, the highlight being a win against a strong and somewhat boisterous Brentwood team. The continued focus throughout was a great effort - well done to all. Thanks to the great support from parents, including 'sub-master'efforts. One item of note for some of the boys to build on for future weeks, when passing at the restart or to supporting players in play, remember to pass to the player in the best position, not just to the player who is your buddy - you know who you are! :) (DAN)
Wendens Crusaders started slowly on a frosty winters morn and struggled to cope with the pacy, mazy running of the Brentwood opposition and succumbed to a heavy defeat. The second match saw improvements but defence was still an issue so as much as tries came easier to the team the count against was still too high and another loss was recorded.

The last two games saw great improvements in both attack and defense and although the end result was W1 L3 it was great to see them ending on a high with some great teamwork in support and a well drilled defence to win the final game.

Room for improvement but the kids all left with a smile on their faces (probably frozen onto their faces with the temperatures) (GRANT)
The Knaves (Jake, Lochie, Jack, Haydn, Luca, Bodie and Noah) were strong and committed throughout the day. Excellent running rugby all round with some good support and passing before the tag. There were tries for everyone with Jake scoring a hatful and Bodie finishing one play with a powerful dive for the line. Defence was much improved – the team still needs to work on keeping the line but the tagging was waspish – Luca shone here - and we forced turnovers by closing down the space and pressuring the opposition into mistakes. Three matches against Shelford teams were won with the final match against Brentwood drawn – a great result. (TIM)
