West Bowling under 16s completed a great season with a hard fought 13-6 win over Crigglestone All Blacks in the final of the Yorkshire Youth Combination Top 4 Play-off At Upton ARLFC.
Bowling had Finshed 3rd in the League , so had to take the hard route to the final with an Away Trip To Hull dockers in the Semi-Final winning that game 28-10 the previous week.
The Final was played in front of a large crowd on a sunny day set for great rugby, Crigg started the stronger with their hard running forwards making yards into the Bowling defence, but the team held strong and were 1st to score with a Well worked try finshed off by Winger Brad Peel , which prop Alex Stott Converted 6-0 Bowling,
Both teams pushed hard for an opening but in wasnt untill midway though the 1st half a slip by the bowling defence allowed the Crigg centre to score and with the try being converted that made the score 6-6.
Bowling were next on the board with Man of the Match Elliot Minichella dancing though the crigglestone defence to score a great solo try the conversion was missed half-time score Bowling 10 Crigg 6.
The second half nerves seemed to play a part and was littered with errors both teams seemed not to want to make a mistake, in a tryless 2nd half if was minichella again who steped up with a cheeky drop goal and a penalty to make the game safe with bowling winning the final 13-6.
Both team should be proud of there efforts and it must be said the game was played in great spirt.
For Bowling it was the end of an era for some of the team as no doubt some of the players will be joining the professional ranks and moving to pastures new,
for the rest after a well earned break it will be back to the hard work of Pre-season training in July ready to start again as Under 17s
