2 games played, 2 wins v teams a league above .....

Team Bridgy have hit the ground running, following a great win last week against Ilkeston, they travelled away to Paviors for another great victory. Both teams play a league above, so let's hope this form continues. See match report below from this weekend.

West Bridgford Rugby Club continued their good form in pre-season by beating a physical Nottingham Paviors team 31-24 on Saturday. Paviors started brightly dominating possession and territory and they were rewarded with 3 tries without reply making it 17-0 after 25 minutes. Bridgford improved somewhat after this and managed to get on the score sheet before half time with some good handling setting up Captain Ashley Watts to go over with Daniel Grainey adding the conversion.

That made it 17-7 at the half time break. There were some strong words said in the interval and this showed as the second half kicked off with Bridgford showing their physical prowess and putting together some of the back line moves that were non-existent in the first half. Ashley Watts, Daniel Grainey and Connor Jones all crossed the white wash to make it 26-17 with 15 minutes to go and Bridgford had settled into a good rhythm. Paviors did their best to disrupt this with some ill-tempered play which saw them have a man deservedly sent to the sin-bin. Bridgford capitalised on this and after some good running in the middle of the pitch from Ben Berridge and Sean Denning, Ashley Watts was again sent through and completed his hat-trick of tries. There really is no finer sight then seeing a hooker in full flight!

Paviors pulled a try back with 3 minutes to go taking the game to just one score in it. From the resulting kick off Paviours have everything to pull the match back level but after some heroic defending from Darren Burley and Ben Goulding Bridgford got the turnover they needed for the win and are now looking for to getting their league campaign underway in a couple of weeks.
