Double Header Victory For Regatta Way Boys

Two Dave Erentz headed goals sealed victory for West Bridgford on a cool windy night. The game started with Radcliffe immediately on the attack but with Jake Towers' shot easily saved. This was shortly followed up by a ferocious Julian Joachim 30 yard free kick which nearly broke the Bridgford cross bar before bouncing out. Bridgford then took the upper hand and started playing some great passing football. Chances were being created.Josh Kwadu and Will Heath both fired wide. The deadlock was broken on the 35th minute when defender Erentz pushed up to confidently head home a Bridgford corner from the right. Shortly afterwards a Jaylee Hodgson through ball to Aaron Large left him one on one with the keeper but his shot was saved. An incident involving Sam Perrin led to the volatile Radcliffe supporters baying for blood with the away fans claiming the Bridgford player had stamped on the Radcliffe attacker. The referee thought otherwise and the only player who ended up getting booked was one of Radcliffe's substitutes for complaining. Just before half time another great Bridgford move involving Will Daly, Hodgson and Heath led to Jack Gray missing a clear chance.

The second half continued with both teams creating chances. A foul on Hodgson led to a Daly free kick which Akimbinu headed wide. Erentz got his 2nd goal in the 60th minute with a looped far post header from another corner. Daly was denied a 3rd goal for Bridgford by a fine save by Radcliffe's goal keeper, Nick Eatough. Former Aston Villa and Leicester player, Joachim, was firing in some tremendous free kicks one of which led to a finger tip save onto the post by goal keeper Clark. The ball was eventually cleared in the ensuing scramble.

And so the game ended with a vital Bridgford win and a battling performance by Radcliffe who continue to improve on their early season disappointing form.
