West Bridgford 2 Arnold Town 1 by John Burns
Tense Game But Bridgford Back To Winning Ways.
In a tense game, with both teams desperate for the points, Bridgford had seen Joe Philips leave for Radford, and a debut was given to Keelan Barker.
The match kicked off at 3pm in gloomy conditions with the floodlights already turned on. Arnold began brightly and in the 7th minute took an early lead with a fortuitous goal. The ball was bobbling around the edge of the area and Morgan took full advantage with a speculative but well taken shot into the goal.
Bridgford reacted well to going a goal down and started applying the pressure, with chances falling to Gray, Kwadu and Hodgson. On the 25th minute the ball fell kindly to Davies and he hammered home a superb dipping volley from 25 yards. Bridgford dominated the rest of the half and the teams went in level at 1-1
The second half started well and Arnold applied some early pressure, but the home side settled down and turned the tables and applied pressure of their own. They were rewarded with a 55 th minute second goal from Davies again to make the score 2-1 to Bridgford.
Arnold fought back bravely and Bridgford were grateful to keeper Clark who made a superb double save to keep the visitors at bay, which was quickly followed by another great save.
Bridgford ran out as winners but Arnold to be fair to them, threw all they had at us once they went a goal down. At the end of the day Bridgford have a lot to thank the back four of Erentz, Willey, Hall, debut boy Barker as well as goalkeeper Clark.
