All change again leads to defeat

After the great win the week before against Birstall, which was a major upset based on league form, Bridgford were looking to see an improving side face Dunkirk. Sadly this was not the case. Yet again Manager Richie Holmes found himself with only 5 of last week’s team available for selection. 2 players were suspended for receiving 2 yellow cards each in the Birstall game, 1 player, on loan, was called back to his main club, 2 players were injured, and 2 others were unavailable due to work commitments.

So 2 more new signings made their debut, in both cases their first game for a while. The game was effectively over for them after about 15 minutes.

On a wet muddy pitch, in one of the few games that were played that day, Dunkirk, were too fast, too strong, too organised and had far more desire than the Bridgford side, who were trailing 4-0 inside 15 minutes.

The makeshift defence, and almost nonexistent midfield, virtually handed Dunkirk the goals on a plate, scoring in the 2nd, 6th, 13th and 15th minutes. Dunkirk continued to dominate, but Keeper Clark, kept the score at 4-0 as we went into half time.

The second half was not really much better, and Dunkirk scored 2 further goals in the 47th and 50th minute. Bridgford switched once again to 5 at the back and held on to try and keep the score respectable.

Dunkirk played very well and dominated the game, and had a deserved win, but Bridgford must hope their best players are available more often. The side has never started with the same 11 all season. When we have played well and won, it is due to having most of the players available to us. With our strongest 11, we feel we can beat anyone in the league. . .trouble is not happened in 25 games.
