Bridgford Lose But Are Not Disgraced Against League Leaders.

It wasn't the weather that threatened the game this week but instead the closure of the M1 due to an accident. Fortunately the Teversal team found an alternative route to arrive in time for the 3 pm kick off.
Bridgford made a positive start and in the 8th minute Dave Erentz had a header tipped over the bar by goalie Joshua Turton. In the 12th minute an injured Ross Haig was replaced by Jaylee Hodgson. It was the first of two enforced substitutions of key players, the second being captain Will Heath, later in the half. The first period continued with more end to end action and both teams creating plenty of chances. The deadlock was broken in the 25th minute when Teversal's Danny Fletcher ran on to a long defensive punt down the left, rounded the out coming goalkeeper Rigley and hit the ball into the far corner. Twitter controversy ensued. Bridgford tweeted; "Even the most ardent Teversal fan would have thought that offside". Teversal replied "No they wouldn't he was well onside". Bridgford-"Correction -all except the most ardent Teversal fan would have thought that offside". 5 minutes later Teversal doubled their lead with a fine Dave Cockerill strike hitting the post and unluckily bouncing in off a Bridgford defender. Teversal continued to dominate for the remainder of the half and had the ball in the net one more time. This time it was given as offside.
The home team were quickly out of the blocks in the second half. In the 48th minute a superb Josh Kwadu run down the right flank, led to him pulling a low cross back to Tomi Jayeola who hammered the ball into the bottom of the goal. Bridgford were now dominating with right back Charlton setting up a number of attacks down the right. Midway through the half a Teversal attack looked like it had been neutralised by the home defence. However the ball looped to Matthew Wilkinson who fired in a great opportunist volley to restore the visitors 2 goal lead. Bridgford weren't beaten yet and continued to press strongly. With 12 minutes to go they were back in the game, Kwadu tore through the Teversal defence and smashed the ball low into the net. Despite creating more chances, Bridgford's candle was finally snuffed out when Joshua Radford scored the decisive 4th after a defensive mix up. We look to relight the flames away to Belper on Tuesday night.
