22nd January 2012 – Westfield 3 – 2 Maidstone
Laura Low 2
Danielle Wright

I think we saw that Maidstone are a vastly improved side from start of the season. They were competitive and made things difficult for us, and their mid table position confirms how far they have progressed.

However we made it far too easy for our opponents and this was a game where we failed to control the tempo or possession. We gave away the ball too cheaply and conceded another two goals from areas we really shouldn’t.

From our point of view I think it’s one of those games where it’s best to just focus on the positives.

Our back four and Goalkeeper were, again, very good. They can’t be criticized for the two goals we conceded and have taken on board any criticisms to improve their game as a unit.

We scored three, created more chances, and had our strikers been a little sharper, we could have scored another two quite easily.

Becky Duggan put in a very good debut, and gave us a glimpse of her experience and ability. I’m sure she has a lot more to offer and will prove to be a very valuable asset as we finish the season.

Next week we are away to Wimbledon based Panthers.
