1st XI
The first team secured the Westmorland League Division 1 title for the second year running with a five-wicket win over Silverdale on Saturday at Cross Hill Park. The visitors won the toss and batted first and posted 109-9. Captain Andy Hill had his first 5-fer of the season with excellent figures of 5-20. The hosts, and soon to be Champions again, chased down the target in 31 overs. Sam Frith was the top scorer with 40 runs. A full match report and scorecard is available here.
2nd XI
The seconds yesterday had a two-wicket win in their last game of the season away to Trimpell. The hosts batted first and were all out for 79. The ever-reliable Sid Gani (5-14), new-boy Craig Atkinson (4-22) and vice-captain Jacob Vaughan (1-21) were the Westgate players to take wickets. The visitors reached the target in just under 36 overs, but at the expense of 8 wickets. David Hughes was the top scorer with 20 runs, whilst Trimpell bowler R.Cope took excellent figures of 5-15 - but it wasn't enough to keep his side in Division 2. A full match report and scorecard is available here.
Next week
There is just one game next week. Andy Hill's side will be looking for their 16th win of the season as another successful year comes to a close at home to Windermere (1:30pm start). All friends and supporters are thenĀ invited to join the players in the pavilion after the game on Saturday for a HOT PIE SUPPER - to celebrate the end of the season. Serving at approximately 8.30pm.
Bonus Ball
This week's Bonus Ball winner is David Stephenson (8).
