Westhoughton First Team continued their fine form with a victory over Heaton. Captain Rob Houghton
won the toss and elected to bat first, and made his way to a careful 31 on what was a difficult wicket. Westhoughton lost four quick wickets in the middle order though to find themselves six wickets down and a rebuilding phase was needed. With only a handful of overs left, Rob Brown
(who top scored with 40*) took the attack to the bowlers with Kieran Edwards
(24*) as they shared an unbeaten 50 partnership in only 6 or so overs.
In reply, Heaton were 0-2 as Paul Hart
and Dan Reeve
took one wicket apiece. Hart finished with 3 wickets, and Reeve with two as Heaton were left struggling on 45-5. However, they recovered and were 126-6 before Pro Stephen Murdoch
took two wickets with two balls to swing the momentum. Kieran Edwards
picked up a couple of wickets, whilst Murdoch finished with three wickets and two catches as Westhoughton won by 24 runs.
