Good effort against a strong Thatto Heath
The under 9's travelled to Thatto Heath Swords in St Helens for their second match of the season.
It was clear from the outset that this would be a David and Goliath match due to the sheer size and volume of the home team squad. Nonetheless the Lions showed great spirit and at half time were behind by 5 tries. To end the game only a further 3 tries behind was a testament to their grit and determination.
Well done to Jack on his first game for the Lions. He joins the pool of potential of our newbie players, Leila, Callum, Jonathon and Aston who was so close to the try line! The Swords also denied Sam a try with a fast half back catching him inches before the line. The perfomance also featured great tackling by Adam, confident passing by Indy and Lewis as top tackler of the match.
Onwards and upwards lads (and the lovely Leila!)

Tony Grindley - 1 year agoWe can often learn more in defeat than we can in an easy victory. Keep working hard and the results will follow.
Keep up the good work.
