In what was a glorious London spring day, it was game on from the start with the Cats kicking into the breeze in the 1st quarter. Both teams managed to put goals on the board and went into quarter time level pegging. The run and use of the ball into the breeze was promising from the Cats.

The 2nd quarter saw the Cats put some more goals on the board while managing to minimise the Demons scoring at the other end. Dan Feery chipped in with a couple of majors, Spuzz continued his tirelessly work in the ruck, whilst Rory Noble was the beneficiary of some great team play from Wilbas after centring the ball to the top of the goal square when in attack.

The Cats went into half time 27 points up.
What happened next illustrated very clearly that one good half of footy does not win matches.

The 3rd quarter saw the Demons kick 8 goals to zip, the hard running of their midfielders paid off through both scoring a number of their goals and launching the ball quickly into their forward line.

With the Cats down by 16 points at 3 quarter time, and kicking with the aid of the breeze in the last, the stage was set for the Cats to launch a counter challenge. However this was not to be - the Demons continued their run, while a number of uncharacteristic skill errors from the Cats made it challenging for our forwards to have scoring opportunities.

Overall we showed the ability in the first half to more than match it with the opposition, however lesson to be learnt is that we need to apply this effort consistently across 4 quarters. Let’s make sure we have a great week on the track, then come back from the Jubilee weekend break refreshed and raring to go for Round 4!
