I have heard (just rumors or is it) that there is progress towards the new ground development. If that is the case can those involved give the rest of the club membership updated reports and time structure
A drawing of the proposed site would be helpful especially how the individual playing areas, stands and buildings would be developed within the boundries of the site. I hope there is room for a Boules area!!! Best of luck with project

The So Shields & Westoe Club are still in negotiations with a variety of agencies including So Tyneside Council, & through a club appointed agent, several prospective purchasers of our Grounds. The general proposal is that the whole Club moves to a new site.
Each section has submitted a wish list. Ours includes 3 full size rugby pitches, an indoor training area & changing rooms to suit the the size of a modern rugby squads.
More news as & when it comes to light.

I understand by your reply that after progress meetings, information or minutes of the meetings will be submitted to Club members.
Can I ask How?
Will it be on this Web site?
Can we approach the commitee dealing with the move.
Who are they??
I hope the light you are talking about is not at the end of the tunnel.

While I hope the move happens,a lot of the members think that this will be the great panace, and an end of the clubs problems. When it might just be the start. Our problem is that we have a very small membership base, and we need a more proactive approch by the members. When you visit some of the clubs in our league they seem to have a lot more members willing to help out.I realise the different people have different circumstances, but if we eventualy win promotion more members will be needed to help out,in any way they can.

Ken - did you mean 'meant'? I take your point about volunteers but at least an increase in ground size and clubhouse facilities will be of great benefit to all those (like you) that help out with the minis and juniors and colts.
I too hope the move happens and that the more active and bigger sections get more out of the move than those content to take what they can without putting anything back (like over the bar). I also hope that Westoe RFC move as just that - the whole rugby club - and not just a focus on the 1stXV facilities.
And finally thanks to George for starting this thread - the more views expressed the better.

As one of those described by the late Cliver Crickmer as "the Wood Terrace faithful" the prospect of a new ground is an exciting development and frankly essential as the existing ground is clearly inadequate for rugby and I would imagine the cricket section too.
It would be nice to think I may live long enough to see it. Please keep us informed with developments

'It would be nice to think I may live long enough to see it' - all I can say Chris is "Physician heal thyself" and I'm sure you'll be around for a lot longer!
Hopefully it will be resolved within the next 2 or 3 years if the rumours come to fruition. I still think George Carey's point is important and that the club members should be told from time to time what the men in grey suits are doing on our behalf.
