Fly-half Ollie Snook lands for penalties in his debut for Weston

Four penalties from fly-half Ollie Snook on his debut for Weston-super-Mare wasn't enough to halt their run of National Three South league defeats as they lost 20-12 at home to Old Patesians

Snook is on loan from GKIPA Championship side Cornish Pirates until the end of the season after the 21 year old Yorkshireman spent two years in Christchurch New Zealand, where he played for Christchurch Old Boys and then Marist Albion.

Snook landed his opening three points after just two minutes but then Old Pats came back with tries from left wing Dan Burrows and openside flanker Tom Langton but Snook pulled another two penalties back before the interval.

The visitors had outside centre James Aherne yellow carded by referee Chris Newton early in the second half for a deliberate knock-on but the Seasiders could only another Snook penalty while he was in the sin-bin.

But Weston's lead was quickly erased as full back George Hughes converted his own try to give the visitors a 17-12. Weston replacement flanker James Andrews sent to the sin-bin in the final ten minutes and Hughes added a penalty.

The defeat leaves Weston one place off the foot of the table, twelve points behind Old Redcliffians, who won 13-10 at home to Old Centralians, and Oxford Harlequins, who won 29-20 at home to Newton Abbot.
