Find out Clith's view on final prep and Fun Bus predictions!

As the Ladies team get ready to travel to the National Cup Final against Gloucester Hartpury on Saturday. Below are Coach Clith's responses to a few questions we asked.

1) What areas have you been focusing on in training ?
We have been changing our game plan in training and looking at our options in attack and defence. We have a couple of players switching positions and some of the new players are coming into the squad for the final so it will be interesting to see how well we implement all this and hopefully we will give the performance that we are certainly capable of.

2) What are the strengths of the team ?
We have a good all round team with the right balance of youth and experience. We are fortunate enough to have a strong pack of forwards and also some pace in the backs, so provided our link up play is right and we get our set piece functioning then we can give anyone a good game on our day.

3) What do you know about your opponents ?
We don’t know much about the opposition to be honest and we haven’t played them before so it has been a case of speaking to anyone we know who plays in and around their league (and looking on their website). They have just been accepted into the Women’s Super League for next season so they are obviously going to be a strong side and it looks like they have recruited well with a good end to the season. Going into the unknown isn’t too bad sometimes as it means that we can just focus on ourselves and what we need to do to give ourselves a good chance. I would say we are definitely the underdogs but again, that isn’t always a bad tag to go into a final with.

4) Who normally puts in the strongest performance on the Fun Bus ?
Pinky is solid on the fun bus and would be captain of the drinking team, she is built like a midget but drinks like a giant…I think she must have hollow legs or something to store it all. If you get her a bottle of Port or two then expect some fun and games on the way back. From the forwards then the prop JP can put it away but there are a few lightweights in the pack, anyone who has seen Danika’s performance on previous trips will vouch for that. I would say overall the backs would put the forwards in the hurt locker if it came down to it.

5) Who from the Senior Committee would be invited first and why ?
Tough one is this, I would like to see Mr President down there as he has been a big supporter of the women’s team since they came to the club and he would love it on the bus on the way back!! But as there is usually some good songs getting knocked out on the way back, we would have to take Big G for his famous renditions of Country Road and of course his signature song 'Fat Bottom Girls!'! Not sure we will be able to match your 9 dart finish in Antwerp though Sheps….real scenes on the bus that day!!

6) And as coach, what are you most looking forward to this weekend ?
From a rugby point of view I am looking forward to the players getting the opportunity to show what they can do on the big stage. They have worked their socks off all season and I think we are hitting our straps at the right time, we are playing some good rugby at the minute and we have really gelled as a team which is great. They are a group of mates and I would love to see them make history and lift the first Cup for West Park Leeds Ladies I think they deserve it. From a social point of view then who wouldn’t look forwarded to having Kenny on the trip I am sure there will be plenty of Peroni being drunk and hopefully the “Carlton Dance” will be a celebratory one after the game.

Good Luck to the Ladies on Saturday from all at West Park Leeds RUFC.... !!!!
