Find out what Captain Phily Atkins has to say about it...who can dance?

After winning a qualifying competition at Barnsley last month, the Ladies of West Park Leeds competed at the RFU 24 Sevens Northern final held at West Park at the weekend. The event was part of the Rugby Family Fun Day had attracted qualifiers from near and far.
The Ladies were victorious on the day and will be competing on the 29th July at the famous 'Rec', the home of Bath Rugby.
The West Park Ladies will face stiff competition next week against the likes of Wasps and Loughborough who have also won at their regional finals.

As the Ladies look to round off a fabulous season, we caught up with Captain Phily and asked her a few rugby and non-rugby questions.

1 - What are you looking forward to the most about the finals ?
Its really exciting to travel with the team and play somewhere new. My family actually support Bath and I have watched many a match there so can't wait to have a run around at the rec.

2 - How many (roughly) of the team have played any competitive Sevens before this tournament ?
I think I’m correct in saying none... usually when we mention 7’s its playing with a ball in 1 hand and a beer in the other. I think this season is different because we have been so successful we just want to keep pushing ourselves.

3 - Who's the best dancer ?
Technically Reanne because she actually studied contemporary dance but I have to say Pinky has some signature moves as demonstrated on stage in Madrid.

4 - Has anybody turned out to be a star of the Sevens field ?
Our star has to be Rosie Blount. She won player of the tournament at the northern final. She comes from a cycling background and you would think she is still on her bike the speed she gets around the pitch.

5 - Who's most likely to buy the first round ?
Coach Clith is always the first to sort out a celebratory round! He knows how hard we work to make him smile. Although that Shep fella can be quite generous at big finals !

6 - Who's the toughest tackler in the team ?
This is a tough one...I’m going to be big headed and say me for tackling however we have some really strong forwards in the team and Amy Johnson and Emily Wilkes are big competition.

7 - Who's got the best hands ?
I would have to choose Pinky, I hear she has great wrist action and she always knows what to do with her hands. (Editors note......no comment!)

8 - Who's the best when it comes to karaoke ?
If it is Disney Karaoke then Pinky is your girl. We have a few new ladies in the team so I look forward to hearing the songs they prepare for the bus trip and hope we have some talent.

9 - Who's the most athletic in the team ?
That’s close between Reanne and Nicky. Reanne is a Personal Trainer, she’s ridiculously ripped and makes any form of exercise look like a walk in the park and Nicky actually does athletics alongside rugby, she runs track.

10 - Who is the most girly when not wearing rugby kit ?
We all scrub up pretty well but you will never catch Pinky without her make-up and heels. I have never known someone to take quite so long to get ready…

11 - Who has developed the most throughout the competition ?
100% has to be Chrissi Nettleton. She has played in every match throughout the competition so far. She only started playing rugby at the end of last season and I expect great things going forward.

Good luck next week from all of us at West Park Leeds !!!!
