The 2’s came back after conceding the first goal

To win 3-1. The 2’s kicked up hill against the wind in the first half. To be honest they had a couple of good chances to take the lead, whereas Old Salesians did not really trouble our net.

In the second half the game had nil nil all over it, until a poor defensive decision lead to Old Salesians regaining the ball in our final third. The Old Salesains player put the defence on the back foot with his direct run at goal, unleashed a vicious strike that left Drew Simmonds with no chance.

This seemed to spark the 2’s into life. Everything became much more positive and direct. Steve Jones got the equaliser with about 15 minutes to go. Then he picked up his second.

Although behind Old Salesians were not out of it. Drew Simmonds needed to be on his toes as a well struck shot took a wicked deflection and needed him to use his full height to stop it looping into the net.

Just before the finish Steve Jones got his third for his hat-trick direct from a corner. An excellent victory in preparation for next week’s game.

The 3’s travelled to Old Owens, with a much changed team. They came away with a 4-1 victory with Rob Doyle, Conor Byrne and Lee Cornwall getting on the score sheet. This keeps the 3’s in contention at the top of the league.

The 6’s took on Old Salesians, who are near the top of the division, at home. In a close fought contest the 6’s won 2-1, with goals from Tom Pardon and Darius Johnson. A well-earned victory.

Regrettably, the 1’s lost 3-1 to Winchmore Hill, Charlie McGeary on the score sheet. The 4’s lost 6-0 in the first of a double header. In the second game they performed with pride, credit and commitment only losing 3-2, with goals from Paul Tookey and Carl Jeffrey. Finally the 5’s lost 3-0 at home to Alleyn OB.
