Alleyns in penalty heaven.

Threes continue their good run -- Fives beat the newcomers.

A disappointing weekend with Civil Service unable to fulfil the 4's fixture and both Rusthall and South Bank/Cuaco postponing games because of waterlogged pitches.

For sure we had plenty of rain on Friday and the pitch at Alleyns for the First team game had already been played on at lunchtime!!! Underfoot conditions were extremely tricky with players slip sliding all over the place -- the home side adapted to the surface much better than we did and ran out comfortable 3 - 1 winners. John Chisholm kept the score line respectable with three stunning saves in the first 20 minutes including a penalty save.

Doyler had a rush of blood to the head after about 5 minutes when he decided to punch a right wing cross away, temporarily forgetting were his head was. A clear cut penalty which the Alleyn's number 8 calmly placed in Chis's right hand corner. The referee then caught "penaltyitus" and gave the home side another spot kick for an innocuous tackle by Connor Byrne. This time Chis guessed correctly -- the 8 put the ball in same place but found that Chis was there before him to make an excellent save. We then gave away another penalty -- the ref appeared to point to the spot -- fair enough we thought -- but then he changed his mind and gave a corner kick.

Despite the fact that we were behind we had opened the game pretty well with Josh Kennedy and Connor Byrne breaking down the left flank but our final pass let us down and momentum soon swung Alleyn's way.

After a determined run by Jack Sherrin, his shot rebounded to Jamie James who equalised the scores -- a well taken goal. John Chisholm made three outstanding saves to keep us in the hunt but couldn't keep out a shot from the 8 (who was excellent all game) and we went 2 - 1 down.

Alleyns seemed to have 12 players to our 10 and we were under pressure for most of the second half and did well only to concede one more goal -- they are a bright, experienced side and must have a great chance of winning the First division title if they can take points off Polytechnic.

Not a great day with Sam Murray missing 10 minutes of the first half in the Sin Bin and Josh Tutt being binned just before the final whistle. We did come close to scoring in the last 15 minutes but Byrnes header cleared the crossbar and Tutt's shot from the right flank just failed to find the corner of the net -- but almost all of the action was at the other end and only dogged defending kept the score at 3 - 1.

My Man of the Match was John Chisholm again -- Ollie Clark put in a good shift along with Jack Sherrin, who was Fozzies MOM.

The Cuzza/Tooks management combination coaxed the Threes to a 6 - 1 AFA Cup win against Old Hamptonians in a game that was a lot closer than the scoreline seemed to indicate. We didn't play so well in the first period but we scored goals. Charlie Kallas is in top form and as well as scoring two good goals he made another two. He was sent flying by an errant tackle and Conor Pullen smashed home the penalty. Then he dinked a pass over three defenders on to Sam Kemp's right boot and Kempy smashed in his second goal of the campaign. Dan Cudmore got on the score sheet so he's off the Cold List and Chris Hall got the other. The players were very complimentary about the high quality of the playing surface so Paul Kemp was basking in the limelight whilst downing enough Guinness to sink a battleship.

On the outside pitch the fans witnessed another strange happening -- Josh Morris scoring two goals in the same season (sorry-game). He then pleaded for the gaffer to sub him as he didn't fancy a hat trick jug. The visitors, City Of London went home pointless. So the Fives are back on course and a clean sheet for Timo Hussman.
