Reserves go out on penalties -- again.

Some exciting Cup action on Saturday but Oli Green's Sixes get pride of place as they went to the top of the table with an excellent 1 - 0 win in West London against Polytechnic. This is Oli's first foray into football management and he is doing a great job mixing new young players with stalwarts like Tom Pardon and Adam Newman. Managing the lowest side in any club is, for sure, the most difficult and OG is getting it right and they are still in the Cup. Paul Smith got our goal after missing a penalty -- this was a determined performance with only 11 men against a big, strong Poly side. Jack Horgan saw red after two yellow cards for run of the mill tackles.

Old Garchonians might well be reasonably happy to go home with only a 1 - 0 Cup defeat on their first visit to Corkscrew Hill. It could easily have been 5 or 6 - 1 but we had to settle for a single goal from Matt King to move into the last 16 of the AFA Senior Cup.

The Reserves lost on penalties to Sutton Athletic after a 1 - 1 draw at full time. There is no extra time in this competition and at 4 - 4 in the penalty shoot out it went to sudden death -- we lost 5 - 4 just like we did against Actonians in the AFA Intermediate Cup a couple of weeks ago. Charlie McGeary was again on target for us.

The Threes lost a close encounter with league leaders Nottsborough by a goal to nil. We had three under 18's in our side and under the circumstances this was a very good effort.

Sam Salisbury's Fours went to Dulwich to take on Old Alleyns and got all three points with a 2 - 0 victory. Connor Pullen and Sean Wander were on target for the Bluebloods and Bobby Sullivan made some excellent saves in the closing minutes to ensure that we secured a well earned victory.

The Fives made the short journey to HSBC in Beckenham and went down fighting 4 - 2. With no substitutes, we had to play the second period with three injured players so it was a good effort. Billy Parrott and Terry High scored and Terry is in fine form at the moment and has his eyes on the Golden Boot.

The three winning teams did so without conceding a goal so " well done" to Mark Owlett, Bobby Sullivan and Adam Newman. It's by far the most difficult position on the pitch and our keepers are doing us proud so far this season.
