Goals for all three Joes (Walby, Kemp, Ivory).

We knew that a trip to EBOGS would be no picnic but this was a picnic without any sandwiches or cakes – it was like chewing mouldy crusts in the midst of screaming badly behaved kids.
The pitch was unfit for football but was ideal for a Tractor Racing carnival but the officials decided otherwise and the game went ahead. It finished 1 – 1 with Joe Walby equalising with two minutes remaining. We probably did enough to win but both sides were happy with a share of the spoils. Skipper Jamie Askew picked up the Man of the Match award for about the fifth time but it makes a change from Chis getting it.

The Reserves disposed of their league title rivals Polytechnic in the SAL Cup Quarter Final – all the J’s were on the score sheet as predicted yesterday ie Josh Tutt, Joe Ivory and Joe Kemp. It ended 3 – 0 to the Bluebloods and this was probably the best that we have played all season which stands us in good stead for next week’s Kent Intermediate Cup Semi Final against Cray Wanderers at Corkscrew Hill.

The Fours have been in very good form in recent weeks and turned in another good performance in hammering the unbeaten League leaders Alleyn OB 6 – 2. We were 3 – 0 ahead after 20 minutes and then missed four gilt edged chances but the game was really over by half time – goals came from Joe Rahilly and two from Harry Smith.

The visitors scored just after the restart but Joe Rahilly’s persistence saw him rob the goalkeeper who was trying to deal with an ambitious back pass and that made it 4 – 1. Alleyns never gave up and added a second but George Rahilly and substitute Charlie Kallas completed the scoring. It was good to see Charlie back in action after his hamstring problem. Both Harry Smith and Josh Lloyd had fine games but the whole 13 man squad played their part and they have moved into second place in their Division. JR is already asking if he has a chance of winning the Golden Boot – it’s possible of course but Josh Tutt and Charlie Kallas still look favourites with both the Reserves and Threes still in two cups each.
The Vets went to Orpington to take on YMCA whom they beat 2 – 0 with goals from Lee Jones and Richie Richardson. The Vets then transmogrify into West Wickham Sevens for next week’s AFA Junior Novets Cup Quarter Final against Winchmore Hill at Corkscrew Hill.
This is one of three Cup games next Saturday at the Home of Football.
