-- and two for Fitchy -- what's going on?

First the bad news -- Ross Simmonds has broken his ankle -- this was an unfortunate accident in the Reserves game at Old Salesians -- "Simmo" was having a blinder but now joins two other First teamers on the side lines. Then some good news -- George Scudder is already off his crutches and is walking well after his knee dislocation and Sam Kemp is improving after his shoulder dislocation.

I have to give "Jumbo" Cummings pride of place for scoring from centre back in the Vets 7 - 2 AFA Cup victory over hale End Athletic. Jumbo was a First team regular a while back and I never remember him scoring a goal but his young sons were delighted that he notched on Saturday and they described the goal in great detail to me. Geoff Airey hit 2, so did Andy Teague -- the others came from Andy Newton and Jim Ryan.

JP took a strong looking squad to Old Salesians new ground and hammered them 7 - 1. I'm not surprised that Jamie James scored twice because he has been hitting the back of the net regularly so far this season but hearing that Matt Fitch also scored twice surprised everybody. Apparently Fitchy played in a more advanced position and took his chances well. Charlie McGeary, Adam Wadey and Martyn Scoates were also on target.

The First team entertained Civil Service who are always a big strong outfit -- the game ended 1 - 1 with Steve Jones on target from a free kick. The visitors were reduced to 10 men halfway through the second half which inspired them and the game finished level. Man of the Match went to the Bluebloods skipper, Adam Freeman.

The Fours somehow managed to lose 2 - 0 to Civil Service on the outside pitch -- I watched the first 25 minutes and we looked on course to take the 3 points but missed chances contributed to our downfall.

The Threes are out of the AFA Junior Cup -- they dominated the game at Mill Hill Village but lost to a late goal on an awful pitch.

The Sixes went to BB Eagles in West London and found themselves 6 - 0 down. They stormed back into the game and pulled three goals back but time ran out and it finished 6 - 3 to the home side.

The Hammers supporters were in their element at the club as Liverpool surrendered tamely in the late TV game -- thanks for not rubbing too much salt into the wound boys -- you deserved the points.

Everybody sends their best wishes for a speedy recovery to Ross Simmonds -- Ross broke his ankle in the Reserves game at Salesians and we will know the full extent of the injury later in the week.
