U9s loose by a try.
It was good to see another great turn out of the parents for Wetherby U9s match against Cas Panthers. Thanks Steve for turning up even when Max wasn’t playing!
Wetherby played really well over-all. Not quite up to the standard of last weeks game against Stanningley. We were a bit loose in defence in the first half, which afforded Cas 3 tries to 1 up at half time. Mackenzie scoring the only try for the Bulldogs in the 1st half.
In the 2nd half – Wetherby defended and attacked with more purpose. Mackenzie and Conor scoring for the Bulldogs, which left the final score 4-3 in favour to Castleford.
Oli F as usual played brilliantly, guiding the team and leading by example with some great wrapping tackles. Mackenzie and Conor scurried around the pitch looking for holes against a very solid Panther defence. They attacked and defended with their usual commitment. Fergie stayed out on the wing making some excellent tackles like we have now become accustomed to seeing him make. He never got much ball today to let him show off his dancing feet. Will, Alex and Jay drove it hard up the middle, again all three tackling brilliantly well. Danny and Lewis supported really well and ran some good lines and Harry continuing his good form at acting half.
Sam got deserved Man of the Match today – he’d obviously had his weetabix for breakfast – great game Sam well done!
Well-done boys for keeping your heads and playing to the whistle - you should be really pleased with finishing for the summer on a high note. Have a great summer holiday!
Oppositions Man of the Match - Oli F.
Most Improved player - Will
Best Defensive Player - Jay
Best Attacking Player - Mackenzie
Man of the match - Sam
