Brave Bulldogs Bite Back

A classic top of the table clash never to be forgotten.

A strong team effort with some sterling defence gave Wetherby Bulldogs Under 14s A FAMOUS VICTORY over their arch rivals East Leeds

Earlier this season, to be honest, our home game loss against East Leeds and our cup exit against them both showed them as a stronger side. They were tighter in defence and more muscle and speed when running at us. We were outclassed

You can now read that previous sentence again and swap the team names around ! Our away game this weekend showed US as the stronger side. WE were tighter in defence and more muscle and speed when running at them. THEY were outclassed! Jamie summed it up when he got the team together to huddle after the final whistle, he said, "that's our Bulldog team, we're a group of friends that work together for each other. Great work lads, you should be proud"

There were too many highlights to mention them all, in fact I apologised in my previous report for my lack or reporter concentration...and I'm going to have to say sorry again. I wish the match was on Sky HD. I would have been able to pause and rewind it and live it all again. I then might have been able to take more notes instead of be so engrossed in the match. It seems unfair to just mention the try scorers, particularly when we had players who made so many crunch tackles, so many passes, and such good running off the ball.

With to many tries and not enough time to write all the descriptions I can think of a few highlights;

-Jonny running down the wing in front of the parents. With one defender left in front of him he stepped to the left and right and ran between the posts to make it 12-4

-After our next try - an great team effort - they kicked off and we ran it through their defence for another one. The team were on a high and the pictures show the pats on the back and smiles on faces...what a difference from the start of the season !

-A great conversion from a very tight angle in the swirling wind brought up 28-16.

-some great team play saw George run for a good 40metres, then push the ball out to Callum then some quick thinking and a long throw to Jonny gave us another T-R-Y

Back in the east leeds clubhouse Jamie named man of the match as Adam Carter and parents man of the match was Jonny.
