Sunday 3rd December was a drizzly and chilly day, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of our Vandals junior section! All age groups made their way over to Effingham to play the second round of the Mid Surrey League.
A big thank you to all parents, supporters, bakers, and drink makers who helped run the refreshments stall, helping to raise funds for the section.
The U11s kicked off the day, playing a Hi5 format, meaning lots of rotations and a variety of positions for these young players. There were brilliant improvements in their play. Sadly both games were losses, but played with true Vandals heart.
U12s play a full 7 a side game, and after two draws last time, they were out to improve. Some cracking interceptions, tight defence, positive drives, and intelligent feeds into the circle meant their first win! Sadly the second game was lost, but to a well drilled, strong shooting team.
The U13’s have shown great commitment to training which paid off at their Mid-Surrey matches last Sunday. They demonstrated fabulous footwork, confident catching and strong throwing skills. They played as a team, using all areas of the court, and finished with superb shooting and two well deserved wins.
The U14’s worked very well as a team and came away with two wins out of two, thanks to all their hard work and dedication at training. A big thank you to all the parents for all of their support.
Both U16 teams finished the day, and played really well in all their matches. Despite narrowly losing 3 matches and drawing one, all players should be proud of their performance, well played!
