Match report by Sophie (Delayed upload byJules!)

The Vandal Bs were back again on saturday for another breathtaking win of 39-24 against the Jets, but not without a bloody (!) fight.

Despite big position changes since Thursday's win, the team was just as natural and space used just as efficiently - impressive for the beginning of the season. Vandals eased into the game quickly and the first quarter ended with a lead of 10 - 3. The team was feeling confident. Excellent advice from Lou to up our focus and control of the opposition proved invaluable, as Jets stormed into the second quarter with worrying determination and fight (and excessive distracting squealing!!). Vandals kept their cool, but the second quarter finished with a 9 - 9 tie, a great come back from the Jets, closing the gap and leaving the half time score at 19 - 12. Unperturbed, Vandals picked it up in the third, with improved communication in defence, and using resets in the goal third which worked smoothly and forced patience and accuracy. Sadly we lost Kat following the most immense slow motion fall you can imagine, leaving all elbows, knees and shoulders grazed - an admirable sacrifice with a wedding to attend the following week ;-). Despite this, shooting was spectacular and Vandals stormed ahead with a score of 14 - 7, now leading 33 - 19. Focus increased throughout the fourth quarter and the team relaxed (well-concealed exhaustion in my case). The final whistle blew and Vandals celebrated a victory of 39 - 24.

Vandals went into the match with their focus on getting ball side, working the overload centre pass, resetting via WD/GD and improving the back line pass. While there is room for improvement, every player demonstrated these skills resulting in a much higher all round standard of netball. Vandals have shown their commitment to improving their game and supporting each other, which can only mean greater things to come.

Vandals can also celebrate Leigh for how naturally she has slotted into playing WA, Claire for her brilliant work in the circle, Amber for her consistency and determination, Julie for her fab communication and pressure on the opposition, and Sophie for agreeing to write the match report. Additional thanks go to our stand ins - Laura Moore who played a really solid centre throughout, Kat Liddle for her excellent shooting and movement (sorry you were left bruised and battered Kat!) and Arianne for her expertise in holding and her teamwork with Clare.

Go Vandals!
