Weymouth Men’s 1st team continue their winning streak to stay 2nd in the league. Weymouth travelled to Tadley for this fixture.
Weymouth started well by stringing together accurate passes but were unable to penetrate their opponents 25. Tadley then won a short corner against the run of play in which they scored from a drag flick. Weymouth tried to get an equalizer but Tadley scored another goal from a well rehearsed routine short corner. Never the less Weymouth came back into the game when Joe Foot
tapped the ball across goal into the bottom corner. After their first goal Weymouth looked strong and were pressing for an equalizer with a few good chances. Weymouth then went down to 10 men after Dan Bowles got a yellow card for bad language. Afterwards Weymouth scored an equalizer which came after two consecutive short corners, when the ball came across goal into the path of Bryan Knott who calmly slotted the ball onto the backboard. The first half ended 2-2 with Weymouth looking the stronger team.
Weymouth then started the 2nd half strongly, and were pressing for another goal to go into the lead. Both teams had their chances, but both defences were playing well and weren’t letting much through. Weymouth eventually broke the Tadley defence when Luke Drewitt
received the ball at the top the D who then turned and hit a quick shot which luckily went though the goal keepers legs. Weymouth continued to press and scored again when Pat May hit a strong shot into the keepers pads which deflected to Matt Lawes
who clinically hit the ball into the corner of the goal.
