Yeovil & Sherborne 4 - Weymouth Ladies 1
Weymouth still battling
10th placed Weymouth travelled to 7th placed Yeovil hoping to gain well needed points.
Weymouth started the game strong creating a few chances but Yeovil soon exerted pressure and were denied a goal on a run of short corners by a resilient Weymouth defence. Probably then against the run of play, Weymouth took the lead with a superb straight shot just inside the D from midfielder Susie Stone.
Unfortunately Yeovil fought straight back finding a hole down the middle to equalise. Yeovil soon scored a second from a long ball from their midfield where a lucky bounce beat the last defender and the forward neatly placed the ball past the keeper. Even though Weymouth battled hard, another Yeovil attack saw a strike in the D closed down well by skipper Wendy Butcher, only to see it deflect off of her and sneak into the Weymouth net to make it 3-1 at half time.
Yeovil continued where they left off and scored at the start of the second half with the Yeovil attacker turning the Weymouth defender and hitting the target. Shortly after, Becca Duffield was in an unfortunate collision with a Yeovil player, causing a hit to her head and was off of the pitch for the remainder of the game. Weymouth continued to fight and managed to concede no further goals or score anymore, therefore ending the game with a 4-1 loss.
