Weymouth 1 Frome 2

Weymouth ladies 1ST XI hosted Frome for their final game of the season. Weymouth started well but it was Frome who came out on top in the first half. Midway through the first half Frome had a shot that was saved by GK Alice Craven but scored with the follow up shot. Frome's GK made some good saves in the first half to keep the away side on top. Sophie Foot, Lyndsey Melhuish and Casey Foot linked up well and kept applying the pressure down the left but it was still 0-1 at half time.

Weymouth had a much better 2nd half with some good team play. Frome's GK saved everything including a superb drag flick by Emilie Sauven. Anneka Rogers did a great job in her new sweeper role alongside the ever reliable Bernie John. Frome scored against the run of play from a penalty corner, going two goals up

Weymouth kept their heads up and had a number of penalty corners. Wendy Butcher had some great efforts saved by the keeper. Weymouth's goal came from a good shot from a corner and, player of the match, Anneka Rogers, scored from the rebound with a cool finish.

Chloe Van Crugten showed again how versatile she is by having a great game in right defence and exciting youngster Lily Young showed her skill and speed up front.

Despite losing it was an encouraging performance by Weymouth who have finished the league in 6th position, a mid table result.
