A Stone hat-trick seals the deal
Weymouth dominate in style
Weymouth ladies second team had a marked win away at Yeovil and Sherborne this weekend. A quick start to the attack saw a few close attempts on goal within the opening minutes thanks to some fluid passing and solid mid-field play. The score was opened by Ellen Dewey finishing off the skilled attack of Clare Thomason and Jodie Stone. The score didn't remain for much longer thanks to a pre-half time hat trick from Katie Stone. Her swift attacks took the opposition by surprise as she stole her opportunity to place the ball accurately in the corner of the net with composure and consistency.
Yeovil and Sherborne made their fair share of counter attacks throughout the match with one team effort succeeding to get through just before half time.
In the second half not many balls made it past the defensive skills of Bernie Cane and Emily Acutt but some strong marking by Yeovil and Sherborne halted some of Weymouth attacks. Hannah Venner and Izzy Hopps consistently worked hard up the left wing having many attempts on goal however only one was successful with the final goal of the game scored by Izzy Hopps. Yeovil and Sherborne continued to counter but Weymouth’s solid defence kept it away from goal for the rest of the game.
