Stan Panks

Passing of a Wheatley legend

It is with much regret that I have to announce the death of one of the club's great players.
Stan was one of those players that you looked at in the dressing room and were glad was on your side,he played with the club from it's formation in 1961 to 1984. After which he employed his talent 'on the door' at Rotters, where he spent most of his time trying to keep some of Wheatley's 'youngsters' in check.
Stan died after a short battle with cancer and his cremation is at Rose Hill on Tuesday 17th January at 3.40pm and there will be a minutes silence for him this Saturday before the game.

He will be sadly missed but long remembered by all his friends at Wheatley Hills RUFC.
Our sincere condolences go to his family.

Have just heard of the death of Stan. What a shock - I had not been aware of his illness - a feature of living so far away. Stan was a great guy and I had the honour to play with him for Wheatley when I first started at the club (Pilk's Ground) back in 1976-7. Stan was a real grafter and always good company. RIP big man. Condolences to all of his family. Best wishes, JOHN KORNJACA (East Anglian Supporters Club)
