Wheatley Hills are spinning the wheels for a good cause, aiming to cycle the distance from their club to Twickenham Stadium.

Our club is committed to helping the wider community in any way we can and fundraising for a defibrillator at Wheatley Hills RUFC is a cause we are more than happy to get behind.

On Saturday 20th May 2017 players from the clubs 1st and 2nd XV, along with coaches and club members, will be jumping on exercise bikes at the club’s Brunel Road headquarters to raise money for the Wheatley Hills Defibrillator Fund.

Players and members from the club will cover a combined total of 189 miles on the day, with volunteers taking turns logging miles on two stationary exercise bikes. Xercise4Less Doncaster has generously donated these bikes specifically for the event as part of their ongoing commitment to supporting the local community.

Qaysar Bhatti, Sales Manager from Xercise4Less Doncaster, said of the event “Our club is committed to helping the wider community in any way we can and fundraising for a defibrillator at Wheatley Hills RUFC is a cause we are more than happy to get behind.

We’re hoping our donation of these exercise bikes will make a difference and help these committed volunteers cycle the distance and raise the funds required.”

There will be a variety of other activities taking place throughout the day, including a BBQ, with the bar being open from noon. Wheatley Hills RUFC would like to encourage all its members and the local community to come along and support the club in raising money for this great cause.

Wheatley Hills Director of Rugby, Olly Dixon, commented “Having a defibrillator in place at the club is really important to us. It means we will be able to look after all our players and members, if the worst happens and will mean we can support the local community.”

He added “We want to get as many people involved in the day as possible, both from within the club and the wider community. It should be a great day for all involved and is for a great cause.”

Xercise4Less Doncaster won Budget Gym of the Year at The National Fitness awards just five months after opening and boasts over 400 pieces of fitness equipment as well as 200 free classes each month.
