This year’s Dale and Jason’s Memorial and fund raising day takes place this Saturday - 30th August at 2:30pm. It will comprise of a Wheatley XV, Chairman's XV and our friends Crowthorne RFC playing the game they loved.

It is always great to see the event being supported by so many people and it is a huge demonstration of the affection everyone associated with the club had for Dale and Jason.

One thing I have noticed is that, since Jason left us almost two years ago, his passing seems to have galvanised the club and we had more success on the pitch last season than we’ve have had for many years. The 1st team came second in their league, secured promotion and for the first time ever reached the final of the Oxfordshire shield, narrowly losing to Gosford. In addition the second team had some truly fantastic results, beating every team in their league and finished as top points scorer. I’m sure Jason would have approved!

Last year the Memorial Day raised £1000 for Help For Heroes, which was fantastic. This year we have decided to raise money for a club defibrillator and I’m sure we can rely on you all to support this cause.

I hope to see our friends, family and the wider rugby community on Saturday having a great afternoon enjoying the rugby and camaraderie that is at the core of Wheatley RUFC.
