After a somewhat stuttering start for Wheatley's 1st XV, they look to get back on track as they travel across the border to face the Chesham 'Stags' in the BBO Premiership.
Chesham are currently sitting in 8th position in the league, having won 31-14 on the opening day against Slough, but subsequently losing to Tadley 59-17, Abingdon 27-19 and Alchester 10-7. Wheatley are no strangers to Chesham, winning 42-26 at home last year before narrowly losing in the dying seconds 20-17 in the reverse fixture.
With Wheatley’s solitary win against Hungerford putting them in 10th, these two teams look to be fairly evenly matched, although the forecast rain could be the joker in the pack.
Wheatley will field a largely unchanged team from the one that played in the disappointing defeat to Milton Keynes, with the front trinity of Alex Acklam, Dougie Aris and Captain Oliver Poochie Hobdell looking to assert their dominance in the front row. Nick Banton will do the pushing in the second row, whilst Matt Gibb provides something for returning Flanker James Butler to bind onto. Jack Atkinson again starts at number 8 and will no doubt remind Matt Gibb of what he should be doing come scrum time.
Harry Stubbs returns at 9 whilst the hot stepping Nick Rowley returns to the number 10 shirt, ready to feed the waiting Joe Hobdell in the centres. Utility man Jack Smith starts on the wing, whilst Aaron Laman will continue his impressive debut season on the opposite wing. Dan Rule somehow manages to find time off from being a student and will start at Full back.
Replacement Front rower Pete Mitchell will look to make his impact from the bench in what should be a very entertaining match.
