Fresh off the back of a thrilling cup win against Abingdon, the unbeaten Wheatley welcome Harwell to the Playing fields of Dreams this Saturday in what should prove an interesting match up between the two teams.
Harrell are no strangers to the BBO championship and as such, the last meeting between these two teams came in Wheatley's last BBOC campaign back in 2013/14. Both games went the way of Wheatley, winning the home fixture 32-12 and the away fixture 22-12. As ever, a lot has changed since then and so recent form is perhaps a better indicator. Wheatley are currently 5 from 5, whereas Harwell are currently mid table after some tough opening fixtures that include the current top two, Littlemore (40-10) and Oxford (51-12), with their sole win being an impressive 34-5 win against Farnham Royal on the opening day of the season.
With two home games and the positivity that is currently flowing through Wheatley, everyone wants to be a part of it and as a result, Wheatley will actually field two FULL squads this weekend. And what a squad they are...
Captain Alex Acklam, is having more holidays than Judith Chalmers and so Coach Tamworth (Simon Chadbone) takes some time off from peddling cosmetics and steps into the vacant prop role along side Pete Mitchell at hooker and Alex 'Fake Jelly Baby' Gabbidon. In the engine room and continuing his recruitment drive for second rows is Nick Banton, whilst Durbin's future work bitch Matt Gibb will start alongside him. The now usual back row of Dan Bland, Jack Atkinson and Caillin Taylor will continue their industrious work around the pitch.
Out into the backline, and once again Aaron Laman will take the number 9 shirt with he view of making this the game that his personal score board ticks over into triple digits (26 to go...). Outside him at 10 and taking on the role of Captain in Alex's absence is Andy 'Can't be worse than Poochie' Willis who will be looking to unleash the creative and destructive talents of Jack Taylor and Sanda Mpanza. Craigo Buddle and Gav Stanton take the wing berths, whilst Jordan Hook takes the full back's shirt as he looks to add his rather astonishing lifetime hand off tally of... two.
A full Subs bench of Jake Durbin, Joe 'the better' Hobdell and Jack Smith complete the squad.
Kick off for both matches is 3pm, followed by a cheese and port social!
