Positives, but, ultimately a disappointing day WHCC 2s.
After taking a youthfully tinged side to Dinas Powys WHCC won the toss and inserted Dinas.
A calamitous start with Adam White taking a little while to get his sight aligned, but following that bowled very well with no luck. Dinas's captain led from the front, and reglular partnerships kept nudging Dinas up to competative total just as Whitchuch kept thinking they were in a position to strangle Dinas's innings. 223 on a fast outfield felt gettable for WHCC albeit with the risk of a young batting line up.
A good opening partnership put WHCC on the way, but a cluster of wickets suddenly halted all hope. A partnership of 65 between captain Michael Bishop and young opening bowler Adam White resurrected hope raising them from an inauspicious 105-7 to 170-7 and hope raised. Ultimately it wasn't to be.
Both sides gave plenty of chances, and Dinas took more of the chances at more of the right times.
More bad news was to follow for WHCC as opening bowler Aaron Maskill was later ruled out for 8-10 weeks with a broken thumb.
