Whitehall RFC Under 10's - coached by Tom & Ross

Whitehall Wolves Under 10

As we know the original ‘Whitehall Wolves’ have seen a huge change within their Team. Due to the new Rules implemented this season from the RFU meant that we have had to split the Team into two, Under 10’s and Under 11’s. We have seen an influx of new recruits into which great news.

Today (04/10/2015) The Juniors of Whitehall were invited to take part in a Tournament hosted by Frampton Cotterell. On arrival at FC we were overwhelmed by the how well of an event had been organized.

Looking at the itinerary the Under 10’s had 6 games scheduled and with no subs to hand, the 8 strong would have to work as a Team, and boy did they. Due to time it was agreed that all Teams would be limited to four games. Although we didn’t get the opportunity to watch our other Whitehall teams play, we hope they had as great a day as we all did! Viva Whitehall!!

Game 1

• 10:30 – Whitehall v’s Broadplain. Not only the first game of the day but the first of the season for the newly formed under 10’s. Whistle blows and Whitehall are into their stride, big tackles, scrums and even rucks. All the Team not only respectful of each other but also to that of Broadplain and the coach. A True Credit…

Game 2

• 11:30 – Whitehall v’s Bristol Harlequins. Wow… Following a short talk and to reflect on the previous game they game out heads held high. Saul is the man you want when there is a Ruck, he knows where he has to be and the drive he needs to support his team to gain possession of the ball, he was always in the right place at the right time. Jack, well done you put in some big tackles, I witnessed the ring of steel, once you held on you didn’t let go. Abi showed great ball control offloading from the ruck and a huge thank you for supporting Freya on her first game.

Game 3

• 13:10 – Whitehall v’s Frampton Cotterell. With each game Whitehall are gaining more and more confidence and always remain respectful. Tommy, what can I say? Everyone was amazed with his tackles, no fear. He made each tackle count taking players low and pulling them down, even chased a player down the wing and made a diving tackle! Brandon always on hand to support, as soon as the ball is in his hands he’s gone, players bouncing off him as he thunders down the wing. Our newest player Freya has just had a huge boost of confidence after getting her first TRY. She receives the offload from Abi, her head down heading to the try-line and slams the ball to the ground, you go girl….

Game 4

• 14:30 – Whitehall v’s Bristol Youths. The guys pull it out of the bag for their final game. Each scrum looking stronger, the pull is now being hooked back into the scrum half. Players now performing switch passing, Owen receives an offload from Brandon, and like a bolt of lightening is off along the wing (all I can hear is Ross, “Owen stay away from the line”) and he did, scoring a try. Brandon was always on hand, as soon as Bristol Youths broke free Brandon would be there committed to tackle.

Well done everyone, you all played an awesome game of Rugby, not only for ball control, but also respectful of all others and a great Team Spirit.
