Whittington couldn't be contained in a clash with the as yet unbeaten side Featherstone .

As we'd all expected this was going to be a tougher match up than the game of tag in everyone's mind from last week.

Playing with the gail force wind in the first half Whittington were immediately put on the back foot as Featherstones pack started to roll. Early infringements around the ruck and a distinct lack of tackling saw the home side take an early lead, two tries down within 15 minutes was the kick up the backside Whitt needed as the travelling side started to disrupt more and more ball with dogged work in the tight from Skipper Jameson and Tom Martin turning defence into attack with increasing regularity which finally resulted in a score in the corner for Bayliss, some beautiful touch finding kicks by Hobson were the only things to scale the perimeter fence today as ability started to outshine brawn and the tries began to materialise with Hobson and then Martin Hughes all be it after a few moments of pin ball before dotting the ball down.

Chris Roberts converting two from three was the difference at the half as Featherstone struck back just before the whistle.
Second half seen a change in personnel as Jake Owen amongst others arrived getting straight into the running with a couple of bullocking runs flattening the Featherstone defence. Some underhand face raking tactics from the featherstone centre caused the only real decent in the game and penalties began to be awarded to the travelling side.

Not wanting to surrender their unbeaten record the featherstone boys much to their credit never gave up and managed two more tries of their own and could of easily had a third had it not been for some stout defending.

The order of the day was up front tough tackling, sensible rugby and digging deep in the fitness bank all deciding factors that proved enough to soften the men in green and with a new found confidence and the home side tiring Whitt managed to score two more tries in quick succession through Hobson and Jameson both from swift thinking, catching the featherstone boys unaware to edge the away side just out reach. 25-29 the final score, a well deserved win after a shaky start.

Next week top of the table clash as we host Gnosall.
