Another Game Another Win!!
Eagles carry on their fantastic unbeaten start to the Season
Derek very kindly has caught the thrills and spills in the great report of todays action!
On a windy and drizzly morning, the Eagles warmed up, looking to carry on their impressive start to the season, with 3 wins in 3 matches.
The whistle echoed, starting the match off, with the Eagles looking very positive and full of life.
Some great interchanges between Max and Beau, which split the Woking Cougars defence early on, but to no joy.
Rio, in the middle of the park, showed his power and strength, keeping the Cougars at bay. On the 8th minute, the Cougars broke the defence and a cracking strike thumps off of the post.
With the Cougars now piling the pressure on, the Eagles soaked it up and saw an opportunity to break. A quick ball out from Harry in goal, set the counter attack off with some lovely one-twos in the middle, setting a lovely chance for Beau. No hesitation from the new boy; this time slotting it past the goalie and wheeling away in celebration.
The Eagles had their goal and were now in full swing. There was some dazzling football all round, with Sam and Joe, (or should I say Kompany and Cahill), controlling the game from the back.
The 18th minute, and the ball breaks free. Unlucky for the Woking Cougars, it drops to Joe who picks out an in-form Max; our very own Harry Kane. Bang! He drills it in the bottom corner. What a cracker!
Before they can even get their breath back, the Eagles are on the attack again; Beau playing the ball in and also on hand was another new signing, Hayden who takes a touch and calmly passes the ball into the net. 3-0, the whistle blows. What a first half!
The team get their instructions from Darren and look to recreate their first half performance. The whistle blows and off we go.
The Cougars start very positive and pepper the goal. Rio is on guard to keep the ball out, with a couple of fantastic saves. They have definitely not given this up. The pressure builds and the post and crossbar come to the rescue; not once, not twice but three times in five minutes. Then they get the goal they have been pushing for. It's 3-1. The Eagles have to dig deep.
They get their instructions and Joe ups his work rate, and bosses the Cougars front men time and time again. He makes it look so easy; picking their pockets and playing some lovely passes out of defence. He even pushes into middlefield and unleashes a couple of furious shots, with the Cougars goalkeeper making some fantastic saves to deny Joe a wonder goal.
The Eagles see a flurry of shots go wide, and see out the game to record their 4th successive victory.
Harry was fantastic in goal and made some vital saves and great distribution. Then moving out to midfield and defence. He can play anywhere!
Joe was man of the match. What a showing; solid as can be with great positioning and awareness. Some match saving tackles and all round - brilliant.
Sam; again, a very solid performance, but did we expect anything else? He chased back, and not to be outdone by Joe, he too made some fantastic tackles.
Rio started in midfield with great energy and power, then moved into goal and saved some great shots.
Beau, in his second showing, seems at home with a well taken goal and some great runs down the wing.
Hayden had a great energy and passing from the right midfield, looks a natural and got his second goal of the season.
Eashan came off the bench to provide some much needed energy and pace. Those boots are still looking very nice and fresh.
Alex also came on to provide some very much needed composure in the midfield, taking on the Cougars with some silky skills.
Max, aka Harry Kane, just can't stop scoring! Great shift and just a natural in front of the goal. Great work rate today.
