Whyteleafe Under 18 lose opening League game of the season

Tunbridge Wells earn first three points of the season.

Whytelafe travelled to Tunbridge Wells for their opening fixture of the Bostik Youth League East Division. A lovely August evening at the lovely
Longmead Stadium. Due to the early start of the league most of the Whyteleafe were still away on holidays and Manager Darren Kenny had to include four 15year boys in the team sheet. Whyteleafe opened the scoring in the first minute following a free kick Lewis Miller got his head to the ball and beat keeper Osbourne Oscar for a fine goal. Tunbridge were a much stronger team and their Centre forward Rhys Barton stole the show with a magnificient display and he equalised for the home side on 12minutes with a well taken goal given Ben Riley in the Away team goal no chance. Tunbridge took the lead on 15minutes when Pip Preston scored from close range. Whyteleafe were trying hard to get back into the game when that man Rhys Barton struck again on 24minutes with another fine goal. Half Time Tunbridge Wells 3 Whyteleafe 1.
Whyteleafe got more into the game for the second half and following a foul on Adam Bambroffe Whyteleafe were awarded a penalty which club captain made no mistake sending keeperOscar the wrong way to make the score 3 - 2. Tunbridge were back on the attack and scored again on 57minutes when substitute Nathan O' Dunokan scored with a well taken goal. Manager Darren Kenny made a triple substitution with Eric Botang-Taylor, Cameron Myrie-Smith and Frankie Walker coming on fot the final twenty minutes. Final Score Tunbridge 4 Whyteleafe 2.
